Hi! My name is Kelly. I live in Arnold, Nottingham with my husband Steve and our six gorgeous children. Steve is a chartered engineer working in the energy sector.
I have always loved working with children. I am qualified as a primary school teacher and enjoyed working as a specialist primary language teacher for a number of years. In the past few years I have devoted myself to looking after our children. I decided to make use of my experience and love of caring for children and supporting children’s learning by training as a childminder. I qualified as an OFSTED-registered childminder in April 2014.
Our family love “the Great Outdoors”. We enjoy camping, exploring woodland, bike riding and having adventures in the Wild. This love of nature and the countryside influences my childcare ethos. I try to provide opportunities for children to have some “Wild Time” outside every day, whether in the garden, a local park or a nature reserve or country park. I have been inspired by Forest School principles to encourage children to play and learn in the outdoor environment.
We also enjoy snuggling on the sofa for Movie nights with pizza, homemade popcorn and treats. We are all music fans and we often put together playlists for our adventure trips.
I am very creative and I love to spend the evenings sewing, dressmaking, crocheting or trying a new craft such as needle felting. I love sharing these skills with the children I look after and I encourage them to develop their own ideas and creativity.
